The Capsule - Issue 001, Happy Mid 2026
Published 1st June 2026
The Narrator here from Re-Build. First, happy Eid to everyone celebrating, and happy mid-year of June from all of us at Re-Build. If you're receiving this, it means you joined our community at some point, either through our work, a partner, a programme, a conversation, or recently through Hult Prize Ghana. However you found your way here, we're glad you did. You're reading the first issue of The Capsule, our monthly journal from Re-Build. Think of it as a small window into what we're building, what we're learning, the products we find interesting, and the conversations shaping our community across hardware, design, infrastructure, and African innovation.
01. Field Notes from Narok County, Kenya
This month, members of the Re-Build team supported a community implementation programme in Narok County, Kenya, alongside our partner, LightEd Impact Foundation, and other collaborators. Re-Build worked as an implementation partner, supporting the deployment of lighting and energy systems for schools and community use.

02. Product Spotlight: LiteClip
One of the products deployed through the Narok programme was LiteClip, a portable clip-on lighting system designed for flexible everyday use. LiteClip is built for people who need light that can move with them. It can be attached to surfaces quickly, making it useful for students, workers, small traders, households, and community spaces where fixed lighting is not always available.

03. Product Spotlight: Ankor
We also introduced Ankor, a clamp-based lighting product designed with fishing communities and outdoor work environments in mind. Ankor was created for places where light needs to stay stable even when the environment does not. Its clamp mechanism allows it to attach securely to surfaces like boats, making it useful for fisherfolk, waterfront workers, and people operating in low-visibility conditions.

04. Products We Find AWESOME!
This month, we also started a new social media series where members of the Re-Build team share products they use, admire, or cannot stop thinking about. So far, we've shared product picks from Giselle Onyango, our Director of Opportunities & Growth! From everyday tools to beautifully designed hardware, we're showing the kinds of products that inspire how we think about usefulness, design, and execution. Follow the series on TikTok.
05. We Supported Hult Prize Ghana
Earlier in May, Re-Build was proud to support Hult Prize Ghana 2026, which brought together student entrepreneurs and builders working on real-world ideas. We participated as both a fiscal sponsor and an ecosystem support partner, supporting young teams thinking seriously about innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical problem-solving. Congratulations to the winners: 1st Place — INSPECTER, 2nd Place — ECODIAPER, 3rd Place — BEACON.

06. What's Next?
June will bring more product stories, more field content, and more behind-the-scenes moments with the Re-Build. Stay close, if you're interested in hardware, infrastructure, product design, or the future of African-built systems, you're in the right place.
